Persistence

Here's a quote I liked this morning but I'm also adding one on persistence because my sweet daughter Larisa Sofia is the most persistence and determined and bull headed little 42 lb 7 year old I've ever known.

So here is my quote followed by one for Larisa:

We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are.
~Anaïs Nin

The last week of January

Quote of the day:

Jack Palance: "Do you know what the secret of life is? One thing. Just one thing. You stick to that and everything else don't mean shit."
Billy Crystal: "Yeah, but what's that one thing?"
Jack Palance: "That's what you've got to figure out."
~From the movie City Slickers

Happy Sunday!

Yesterday was a really good family day for us. We went to Pinnacle Hills mall in Rogers, AR. We had it planned and we were all excited and as we drove there we noticed snow flurries, but we kept on and when we got there it was FREEZING!! So we went to Build-a-Bear first and the kids all got something, Larisa got the new Spring Bear, Miguel got their limited edition Groundhog that is too cute for words and very soft. Gabi got clothes for her leopard/cheetah animal she has. Then we went to Penney's, we bought Larisa a sweater, myself a coat with down (great deal from $200 to $44) and Miguel a stroller. After we all got much warmer thanks to the additional clothing, we then got to stroll around.

I had a good workout today and Pat and I went to lunch, we talked a bunch and now he is out getting the kids from the various sitters they got left with.

Hugs,

Friday is here...

much sooner than I expected.

I don't have much to say, but we did find a new wonderful sitter who is 21 so I feel good about her responsibility level. Her name is Christen. Very sweet and friendly girl.

Here's a quote:

One's suffering disappears when one lets oneself go, when one yields - even to sadness.

Monday is here

Let's start it off good

When I can look Life in the eyes,
Grown calm and very coldly wise,
Life will have given me the Truth,
And taken in exchange - my youth.

New quote

Although every man believes that his decisions and resolutions involve the most multifarious factors, in reality they are mere oscillation between flight and longing.

Is it the weather?

I'm feeling so introspective today, I just want to be quiet and think. Even the music I'm listening to makes me want to just ruminate... If you know me well you know that quiet and introspective is just not me.

Quote of the day:

To conquer without risk is
to triumph without glory.

Brrrr....

Boy it's cold around here!!

We got the tail end of the ice storm and we have a bit of snow and some ice too. It's going to get cold around here supposedly around 13 degrees tonight, with windchill in the single digits.

Some good friends are opening a lovely coffee shop in town and today it's supposed to be their first day opening the drive-thru, we will go later (if our road is driveable) and get some good coffee! Yuummm!!!

Gabi needs to catch up on school work today since last week we got behind due to all the doctor things and other stuff we had to do.

Pat is going to go run in the snow/sleet/ice and we took a picture of him for posterity. It's way cold out there. I'm posting a picture of him.

Wow

This week has been a major doozy!!

Girl scouts, dance, surgery, dentists, doctor again, violin, dance, doctor AGAIN... I'm looking forward to a boring week of just normal stuff.

Miguel is healing wonderfully after having to go back to the doctor and get retaped because he ripped out the glue holding his incision together. Thankfully the cut was already healing and didn't separate. The doctor did a supreme job and the wound is just beautiful very small and clean. I'm very pleased.

I've been checking the weather and our area is right on the border of this major ice storm that is hitting Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas this weekend. I hope it doesn't decide to move south, I'd really hate to be stuck in the house a whole weekend, or really I don't mind staying home but the storm is supposed to be NASTY and I don't want to live like a hermit for the weekend with the kids, when they get bored it's ugly.

Today is the first day that we are not going anywhere in the day time unless I decide to shop for food in case this storm does decide to travel our way. It's a good thing I'm hanging out here becuase I have about 87 loads of laundry to do. I wish laundry was self sufficient and I was like bewitched and could wriggle my nose and move on and not have to sort, move, load, fold, hang, take to rooms.... blech....

Ok, I'm going to go scrapbook while the children snore, yep I'm scrapbooking at 5:37 am or else nobody leaves me alone and they want my scissors or glue or this or that....

Busy, busy, Busy

I offered to Larisa if she was interested in taking Sewing lessons since she loves sewing or piano since she also enjoys music and I know a piano teacher (reasonably priced too) So she (I don't know why I was surprised...) pipes up that she wants to learn the violin (where does she get this stuff??) So we found a violin teacher (of course it costs like 8 times what the piano one does :P, although it's not an unreasonable cost just more than piano) It's a Suzuki violin teacher, which i've heard good about this method, so I have to be there for every lesson, so that adds a twist to the whole thing as Miguel cannot be there since he is not quiet or cooperative. I'm waiting for a call from a sitter that says she can watch the little man but is checking with her parents. I hope it works out since Larisa is truly very excited and asked me to download violin music on Itunes and we've been watching videos also on google. She is still excited so maybe this is the right thing for her.

Tomorrow my new furniture is being delivered, YAY!!! I can't wait to see it in my breakfast nook!!!

Miguel has his surgery on Tuesday and he asks everyday about his tickle spot that he is getting. He is very excited and I'm sure that it will last until we get to the hospital and he realizes that mama won't be watching the tickle spot installation. Poor child he will be furious to be taken away, I hope he cooperates with the "sleepy juice" taking so that he will be tired and compliant. Nothing like seeing your kid screaming at the top of his lungs as he is being led away to surgery...

Ok gotta keep going on the girls school work while Miguel is cooperative and get done early since Miguel and Larisa have dentist appts.
