Happy Birthday!!
And my little boy is 3 years old. How time goes by...
3 years ago we were wondering when we would receive a referral of a little boy, not knowing that the most beautiful woman was giving birth to our little boy. I'm amazed at the chain of events that leads a family to a child and vice versa, how adoption somehow brought to us a child so perfectly suited to our family that it feels like if we had concieved him ourselves that is the exact same child we would have produced.
How to describe my little boy... hmmm... he is not only physicaly beautiful but internally beautiful, he is full of love and passion, he is brilliant and perceptive. Everywhere he goes people are attracted to him because he is so himself! He is so sure of his place on earth, he walks and lives so fully, even when he sleeps. He is so confident and amazing. He is so looking forward to being 3 years old, he wants to be a big boy he tells us (actually he tells us he IS a big boy) he decided he was big so he didn't need diapers; he told us this on Sunday and Monday he started wearing underwear and didn't look back. He tells us (this one I have doubts about) that when he is 3 he will sleep in his bed allnight (I won't hold my breath but it would be nice!) Silly me, if he does I will miss that little brown and warm little body that likes to curl up with me as if we were glued together.
He is a true mama's boy, when he wakes in the morning his first words are "mama!
and "hold me!" He loves to read and is very much right now into Dinosaur Roar and Where the wild things are (one of my most favorite books!) I think he identifies with Max ;)
Well I need to go and launder and clean a pool for his party, I'm terribly excited about his birthday. I went on a birthday present buying spree and he is getting too many presents but I love to give him things.
and so
Happy Birth Day Manuela that on this day you may be safe and healthy and that someday I can personally thank you for the gift of our son, yours and mine. We are forever tied and connected by the son you gave me to raise. May you receive God's blessings and his protection. My love to you.
Happy Birthday my son, may you continue to grow healthy and beautiful. I love you with all my heart.

The party is almost here
Saturday is Miguel's birthday and his party. WE are having a few friends over and can't wait to give him his presents. I bought him 2 books about Guatemala and a dino from Buildadino.com. It's a purple T-Rex and it roars... Oh man it'so darn cute!!! Miguel asks everyday if it's his birthday today, LOL. My little man is turning 3, he is potty trained, talks a blue-streak and is so frigging smart. He walks around telling me his favorite letter is N and he knows A is for apple and B is for ball.
THe kids got a bunch of shots on Monday for school, I feel so sorry for Larisa she had to get 4 of them. But they all did fine and in just 8 more weeks they'll be done and really to go to school legally.
I have a psychotic amount of laundry to do and i'm doing my best to put it off everyday, find every reason to procrastinate. So someone please kick my butt and tell me to do laundry.
Larisa is presently using her wiles with her pretty blue eyes to try to work a break in her schoolwork. i said No and I'm surprised she didn't let out a blood curling scream and threw something and ran to her room, slamming the door in the process, that is her SOA (standard operating procedure) when she doesn't get what she wants. SHe is going to make a boss' life quite miserable if she decides to work for corporate america, LOL....
Ok gotta go run.

Shopping fun!
Yesterday I went shopping with my friend Danielle at Pinnacle Hills mall, boy did we have fun :) We ate at Fish City Grill and went to just about every store, and I did some good purchases. I really really like way Gap jeans fit me, I hardly ever find jeans that will fit at the beginning and end. See they all stretch after a while and then you have this saggy butt that is so unbecoming.
I also bought cream for Miguel's skin. He has Keratosis Pilaris which is like chicken skin on the back of his arms and foreams and I got this cream that I saw advertised on Lucky Magazine. I started putting it on yesterday and his skin is already softer and the bumps less noticeable. I'm so excited.
We are watching Jurassic Park with Miguel, his first time ever, he is not impressed yet but i think he will once the T-Rexs show up.

Idiots...
well the idiot thiefs are writing checks... I hope they keep trying, cause there is no money for them to pull out and I hope they get caught. Morons...
Thursday is here
Ok today is upper body workout day, I'm pumped because I ordered a creatine product that is designed for women only. I was using one that Pat takes called Full Blown Extreme but I think it made me gain weight and get fat around the middle.
Pat ordered 2 Tv's for his office so he'll have 4 now. He needs to deduct more things for his business because taxes are killing us. We also get new credit cards, atm cards and checks for our new account due to the theft. Tomorrow Direct TV comes to install a new box in Pat's office. Also today the new dishwasher is getting installed. Wow that's a lot of stuff for 2 days. :P
Miguel came to my room in the middle of the night and starting kicking hte door to come in... boy that is not a fun way to wake up I tell you! I think he is sick because he also ended up feet on my head.
Ok he woke up and I gotta go wait for the dishwasher installer.

useless beast....
And so life goes on...
no news on the robbery but we did get a call back from the insurance company and they are going to cut us a check when they get a list of the stolen items. The jewerly is only covered to $1K so we will need to take another policy out for my new ring that Pat gave me and my old wedding ring. Don't want that lost also someday!
Pat bought us a new dishwasher that is getting ready to be installed today :) The one here just doens't work anymore. He also bought me a new laptop since mine has personal issues with me and likes me mess with my head. It's a Dell and it comes with Vista so we'll see how that works. I'm so looking forward to getting it!
Nothing going on with the house yet but we hope to have some movement soon.
So that's all that's happending overhere.

Easter and then some....
Here are some pictures from our Easter. WE had a very rushed Easter because we had gotten home from Kansas City the day before. Unfortunately we came home after getting a call from my Brother in law to tell us we had been broken into while we were gone. They took a computer, playstation, mine and Pat's jewerly boxes with most of my valuable jewerly and Pat's watch valet and watches, and a checkbook. I hope they rot in hell, but hey that is just my opinion, now if God is listening I hope he agrees.
So the first picture is one that Miguel took of me while I was cleaning his sister's bedroom. Nice rear angle huh?

IT'S OPENNING DAY!!!
Oh yeah! uh huh!
Baseball season is here!!! The TV's are ready, the XM Radios are getting set up, I'm working on my screaming voice so I can yell at the umps... doesn't get any better than this :) Well actually it does, if you go to a game live like we are doing on Thursday :D
WE have TShirts ordered, Dice K is pitching his first MLB game in the US!!! Cool, cool, cool! A funny thing happened yesterday, Pat went to the bookstore and saw a guy with a Boston shirt and got to talking to him and turns out the guy is going to the same game we are going to in Kansas City. Isn't that cool!
We found a website that has some very cool shirts and I got one that says "Married into it" and it has a Boston B. I can't wait to wear it, LOL
A friend also sent me a youtube video of this guy that talks about Boston sports, especially the Red Sox and the guy is just "split your gut-hilarious" That said, he is the most irreverent, foul mouthed thing I ever have heard but even that cannot touch the stuff he comes up with in terms of his way of explaning his point of view. Say like calling Johnny Damon, Johnny Demon and Peyton Manning, Satan Manning. The guy is just FUNNY! If you want a link let me know, but be warned, again, this guy is hardcore.
OK time to get off my rear end and get things going this morning.
I wish we could get a showing and sell the house I just want to move and settle and quit driving so darn much.

Very excited!
We booked my mother to come and visit us and stay with the kids for about 4 nights so we can go away by ourselves :D I'm hoping we can go back to Arizona, that place was awesome!
Miguel is in the midst (finally!) of potty trainnig. We had had some success last summer but went on vacation and it all went to hell. But he is now very aware of his desire to be a big boy like daddy and not wear diapers. He wants to wear underwear all the time and we are on day 3 with only 1 minor accident.
Larisa might be getting her real violin today and she is just itching to have it in her hands. SHe looks so adorable practicing her violin things.
Miguel woke up 3 times last night :P and I'm tired, already.
So we start the countdown to fun time!!!

Noise, noise and more nois
Because my computer never wants to keep me guessing it's now decided to make a horrendously annoying, chirpy noise that goes on and on as long as the stupid thing is on. My karma must've been screwed up on my last birthday or something... why else would I get this lemon computer, humm... is there a lemon law for computers?
The girls are on spring break from dance and classes so we've been hanging at the house and I'm starting to get a bit bored of being home. I think we will go to Ft Smith tonight to buy me some supplements for working out. I'm using this workout drink before I exercise that Pat has been using and it's like 2 shots of expresso or something and man that stuff is goooodd, I feel like a million bucks when I take it and I've only used it for 2 days, that's probably the first sign that it's totally bad for me but I'll tell you what I get thru my workout like a big girl. :D
I have been listening to Shakira lately and love "Hips don't lie" and it's a super workout song.
I'm reading "Purity of Blood, a novel" by Arturo Peren-Reverte. It's a swashbuckling, Zorro style of book and it was a tad slow at first but it's picked up speed and it's pretty interesting.
Oh and Miguel is completly bucka** naked asleep on me, does this kid ever get cold? He is like a little furnace and hates to fall asleep dressed. It doesn't matter how much he is wearing on his way there, by the time he is asleep he has usually stripped of everything. Weird kid...

Persistence
Here's a quote I liked this morning but I'm also adding one on persistence because my sweet daughter Larisa Sofia is the most persistence and determined and bull headed little 42 lb 7 year old I've ever known.
So here is my quote followed by one for Larisa:
We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are.
~Anaïs Nin

The last week of January
Quote of the day:
Jack Palance: "Do you know what the secret of life is? One thing. Just one thing. You stick to that and everything else don't mean shit."
Billy Crystal: "Yeah, but what's that one thing?"
Jack Palance: "That's what you've got to figure out."
~From the movie City Slickers

It's very windy around here today the trees are all over the place it's also pretty cool.
I haven't been feeling well of my stomach and nothing appetizes me let's hope that gets better today.
I'm doing school with the kids while Pat plays with Migueli I want school done early today so we have free time before the girls have dance.

Happy Sunday!
Yesterday was a really good family day for us. We went to Pinnacle Hills mall in Rogers, AR. We had it planned and we were all excited and as we drove there we noticed snow flurries, but we kept on and when we got there it was FREEZING!! So we went to Build-a-Bear first and the kids all got something, Larisa got the new Spring Bear, Miguel got their limited edition Groundhog that is too cute for words and very soft. Gabi got clothes for her leopard/cheetah animal she has. Then we went to Penney's, we bought Larisa a sweater, myself a coat with down (great deal from $200 to $44) and Miguel a stroller. After we all got much warmer thanks to the additional clothing, we then got to stroll around.
I had a good workout today and Pat and I went to lunch, we talked a bunch and now he is out getting the kids from the various sitters they got left with.
Hugs,

Friday is here...
much sooner than I expected.
I don't have much to say, but we did find a new wonderful sitter who is 21 so I feel good about her responsibility level. Her name is Christen. Very sweet and friendly girl.
Here's a quote:
One's suffering disappears when one lets oneself go, when one yields - even to sadness.
~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Southern Mail, 1929, translated from French by Curtis Cate

Is it the weather?
I'm feeling so introspective today, I just want to be quiet and think. Even the music I'm listening to makes me want to just ruminate... If you know me well you know that quiet and introspective is just not me.

Brrrr....
Boy it's cold around here!!
We got the tail end of the ice storm and we have a bit of snow and some ice too. It's going to get cold around here supposedly around 13 degrees tonight, with windchill in the single digits.
Some good friends are opening a lovely coffee shop in town and today it's supposed to be their first day opening the drive-thru, we will go later (if our road is driveable) and get some good coffee! Yuummm!!!
Gabi needs to catch up on school work today since last week we got behind due to all the doctor things and other stuff we had to do.
Pat is going to go run in the snow/sleet/ice and we took a picture of him for posterity. It's way cold out there. I'm posting a picture of him.

Wow
This week has been a major doozy!!
Girl scouts, dance, surgery, dentists, doctor again, violin, dance, doctor AGAIN... I'm looking forward to a boring week of just normal stuff.
Miguel is healing wonderfully after having to go back to the doctor and get retaped because he ripped out the glue holding his incision together. Thankfully the cut was already healing and didn't separate. The doctor did a supreme job and the wound is just beautiful very small and clean. I'm very pleased.
I've been checking the weather and our area is right on the border of this major ice storm that is hitting Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas this weekend. I hope it doesn't decide to move south, I'd really hate to be stuck in the house a whole weekend, or really I don't mind staying home but the storm is supposed to be NASTY and I don't want to live like a hermit for the weekend with the kids, when they get bored it's ugly.
Today is the first day that we are not going anywhere in the day time unless I decide to shop for food in case this storm does decide to travel our way. It's a good thing I'm hanging out here becuase I have about 87 loads of laundry to do. I wish laundry was self sufficient and I was like bewitched and could wriggle my nose and move on and not have to sort, move, load, fold, hang, take to rooms.... blech....
Ok, I'm going to go scrapbook while the children snore, yep I'm scrapbooking at 5:37 am or else nobody leaves me alone and they want my scissors or glue or this or that....

Busy, busy, Busy
I offered to Larisa if she was interested in taking Sewing lessons since she loves sewing or piano since she also enjoys music and I know a piano teacher (reasonably priced too) So she (I don't know why I was surprised...) pipes up that she wants to learn the violin (where does she get this stuff??) So we found a violin teacher (of course it costs like 8 times what the piano one does :P, although it's not an unreasonable cost just more than piano) It's a Suzuki violin teacher, which i've heard good about this method, so I have to be there for every lesson, so that adds a twist to the whole thing as Miguel cannot be there since he is not quiet or cooperative. I'm waiting for a call from a sitter that says she can watch the little man but is checking with her parents. I hope it works out since Larisa is truly very excited and asked me to download violin music on Itunes and we've been watching videos also on google. She is still excited so maybe this is the right thing for her.
Tomorrow my new furniture is being delivered, YAY!!! I can't wait to see it in my breakfast nook!!!
Miguel has his surgery on Tuesday and he asks everyday about his tickle spot that he is getting. He is very excited and I'm sure that it will last until we get to the hospital and he realizes that mama won't be watching the tickle spot installation. Poor child he will be furious to be taken away, I hope he cooperates with the "sleepy juice" taking so that he will be tired and compliant. Nothing like seeing your kid screaming at the top of his lungs as he is being led away to surgery...
Ok gotta keep going on the girls school work while Miguel is cooperative and get done early since Miguel and Larisa have dentist appts.

Today is Pat's last day of official work as the market closes. It is always an important day in our house. And to celebrate we are having dinner out.

Ahhh.. Christmas :)
Christmas was so much fun! The girls got so much stuff and Miguel really apprecited the concept this year and got so much into it. It was too cute!
I got a power cordless drill and I'm itching to use it already! The kids also got me various little presents that were awesome, like Pj's, a snowglobe and a music card from Walmart :)
I gave Pat a Red Sox watch, a watch valet, which is like a jewerly box for watches, a grooming kit, a little wooden thing that says "If you live to be a hundred I want to live to a hundred minus one, so I never have to be without you" I thought it was so beautiful.
We've had family and friends over for Christmas Eve and visited with family that is in from out of town. the kids are thrilled with their stuff and now we have a little get together on the 31st planned and then comes Three Kings day which is a much smaller giving day for our kids.
On the 9th of January Miguel has surgery scheduled for a Hernia, please keep us in your thoughts that everything goes very well and he recovers quickly, the little man in question is presently playing with his massive Thomas the Tank Engine train track which he loves!!! He actualy will play all by himself for a really long time!!
Ok gotta go put some gas (batteries) on the trains.
I'll put up some pictures later :)

And for Christmas Miguel got ....
a Mohawk!! LOL, I swear he asked for it. So here he is, looking very very cute, though I shocked the socks out of a lady at Walmart that literally stared at us with mouth wide open! Here he is. Everyone thinks he looks a lot like Angelina Jolie's cute little boy Maddox, I think Miguel is cuter but I'm sure Angelina feels the same way about her boy :)

Christmas is almost here!
Vacation is starting today for us. The weather this week is supposed to be mild so I want the kids to spend as much time outside as possible, I'm planning on going to Tulsa to take them to the Zoo.
I haven't heard yet from the furniture people so Pat is asking me to call them, I figured it will get here when it's ready. I'm knitting this really cool shawl for myself its done with this "suede" yarn and it's heavenly, I can't wait to finish it. :)
Yesterday Santa came to our church and it was so cute, Miguel was the first one up and he sat on Santa's lap and told him his list "Star Wars, Fire Truck and Candy" LOL
Pat took the girls to see Eragon at the theatre and they thought it was pretty good, it's going to be rental for me because I'm not a terrific theatre person, but I've read the books and I think the author is such a gifted person, it's an awesome story.
I'm reading one of my favorite authors: Janet Evanovich, Hard Twelve, I got it for free at the Library :D She cracks me up so bad...
Ok, I'm going to start the day, the kids should sleep well, Miguel rode his bike and got utterly filthy digging and throwing rocks and went to sleep pretty easily last night and I never heard a peep out of him. The kid plays hard. Larisa also got 2 hamsters this weekend, 2 little dwarf hamsters, the first one is very sweet but the 2nd one is more aggressive and it bit her and she was broken hearted but he has been a lot better, poor guy was at Petco and has not been handled much.

On the 12th day of Chrismas...
my true love gave to me... a partridge in a pear tree (disguised as a breakfast nook table set, and china)
Yep we got the furniture. No date yet on the delivery but who cares I just want to know I will have one in the near future. :D
I mailed my Xmas cards today and my present for my secret Santa. I hope she likes it, I did some of it and bought the rest.
I bought a DVD set called Yoga, Ballet, Booty. And boy the work the booty part... I ended up with a cramp. The abdominal workout is fierce but it felt good. I've managed to remain good in my diet and I have stayed at 118 lbs pretty evenly. I think I will join the next challenge again so I can stay motivated to exercise and diet properly.
It's mild around here today, school got done early and the house is in pretty good shape, I'm knitting and learning to crochet.
We are not really finished with shopping but I hope we can get done this weekend.
Ok, gotta work on more laundry... yippee....

WEll, well...
I'm back!
Its been a few weeks since I last wrote. WE've done so much in that time frame and the month promises to be busy also. All kinds of Christmas activities, end of the year things, parties, yada yada...
I was sick over thanksgiving, then Larisa got sick last week. We had a week off Schoolwork which the girls loved ;)
Let's see, Pat and I had our 16th Wedding Anniversary and it flopped badly but we are recovering, LOL. He surprised me a few days ago and told me had set up an account and saved money for me to order a casual dining set and china cabinet for the breakfast area. I was very surprised and ver excited. It took me a few days but I found the set we like and can afford (boy furniture can be expensive!!) and I'm ordering it today, it could be here for Christmas but I"m not counting on it. I'll post pictures when I can.
It's cold her in Ok and promises to be colder tonight, a balmy 17 degrees. I better get going since my alarm clock didn't go off and I got up 45 minutes late today.
bye for now :)
